Description

Includes reports and correspondence about the activities of Maori tribes and chiefs, mostly of a military nature, for the Whanganui and Waikato districts and the Kingitanga.

Also includes a letter from a european settler (identity unknown ?) to a relative about an attack on his residence, which he apparently survived !

Also contains hand written copies and printed matter relating lists of Maori taken prisoner at Rangiriri. The hand written lists (letter) also include the names of returned "rebels"; lists including women and children; deaths for certain years. These are usually arranged by year or kainga (place of residence), or Iwi / hapu (tribe or sub-tribe). All lists relate to Waikato.
