Description

Shows black coal trucks moving along a conveyor rail on a wooden scaffolding viaduct over a sloping hillside. One truck has fallen to the ground from the viaduct. Beyond is a group of six huts in a bush clearing on a hillside. There is a figure on the viaduct beside the trucks. The scene may be at Cobden or in the Greymouth area

Purchased with another work, possibly by the same hand 'Log bridge, Coal Creek' (G-172), which appears to be a copy of a photograph taken at Coal Creek, Cobden. 'Coal mining conveyor' may also be a copy of a photograph, and is likely to be set in the Greymouth area
