General view of the commemorative pylon, the plaque on which reads 'This pylon records the fact that between 1940 and 1946 76,000 members of the Second New Zealand Expeditionary Force trained in Maadi Camp, and expresses the gratitude of the Force for the kindness and hospitality received during these years from the residents of Maadi. Taken in 1946 by an official photographer.
