Description: 'Very hasty sketch from [the artist's town] acre done in 5 mins' with numbered features. The view looks from The Terrace out towards Wellington Harbour. The features include the site of Pearse's proposed house, bush that is yet to be cleared, the Tararua Mountains in the distance, the Hutt Valley, the hills behind Eastbourne, a few of the houses in Thorndon, 'Mr Moore's acre' next to Pearse's, and part of The Terrace, below Pearse's section. There are two sailing ships in the harbour. Pearse's land was on the corner of Wellington Terrace and Aurora Terrace Quantity: 1 drawing(s). Description: View from Wellington Terrace opposite Aurora Terrace, looking up the hill onto the artist's town acre, which is fenced and has native bush growing at the back. The artist has numbered the view and comments that the Kumutoto Stream is a stone's throw to the left. Above his acre can be seen the Rectory, home of Rev. Robert Cole, and within his land, 'pretty bush of native shrubs', a 'small stream constantly running (a spring), the path cut by the artist up the hill alongside his fence (later Aurora Terrace), the proposed site of his house, the north end of The Terrace, a 'very pretty pathway through the bush formerly leading to the Rectory', 'commencement of very steep hill intended before long to be cut down, perhaps as much as 26 feet (an area in The Terrace rising to the north of the intersection with Aurora Terrace), 'Aurora Terrace - in the rough with bush', 'acre in occupation of Mr Moore - £350 wanted for it - £300 has been offered' (the town acre to the north of Pearse's section), 'Tinakori Range or Town Belt - Karori Road between' (to the right).
