Description

Album of photographs from around the world, including Panama, Mozambique, South Africa, St Helena. Images of New Zealand include the homesteads of T B Acland at Mount Peel, and Dr Alfred Barker of Christchurch; views of Wellington, and Orari Gorge. There are a large number of portraits of the carte de visite style, some named. At the back of the album is a series of newspaper cuttings, mostly dealing with shipping disasters in the 1870s. The album was in the possession of Miss Barker of Shooters Hill, London in 1958, the granddaughter of Dr Alfred Barker of Christchurch, New Zealand.
