Description

Shows Alfred Walker sitting on a Shetland pony called Tom Thumb in front of a wooden building. He is surrounded by older men; including his brother John Walker (possibly in riding clothes), Chang Woo Gow (Zhan Shichai; also known as Chang the Giant) and other unidentified circus performers. The pony was bought from a circus or sideshow by Alfred's father John Walker, proprietor of first Aramoho hotel, Roberts Avenue. Photograph taken by the studio of William James Harding, Whanganui.
