Water race and tram terminus at the Waiorongomai public gold battery. Shows a pipe running up a hillside in the centre, with the tram terminus in the right foreground. Photograph taken by the Burton Brothers studio, some time between 1883 and 1889.

The goldfields were opened 1881. Tramway was begun in 1882 and officially opened in December 1883. Burton Brothers Studio took photographs ca 1882-1889. (information from Anne Stewart Ball October 2009.)
