Tuhoe notes contributed by various kaumatua, and notes from Te Whatahoro Jury with information about Ngati Kahungunu traditions about the creation of the universe and the settlement in New Zealand, waiata and whakapapa, and information about traditional childbirth practices; there are further notes on various topics collected when Best was living in Wellington 1910-1914, including whakapapa, myths, fights, lizards, Maori calendar, navigation rites, stars, Takitimu Canoe, wairua, eels, forest lore, personifications, etc.
