Steam locomotive built in Germany, belonging to the Northern Colliery Company, Waro. Two men are standing in the cab, while a young boy and another man are standing beside the engine. Photograph taken by Albert Percy Godber in 1911. This image is a film copy negative taken from the original print in Godber Album Vol 110, p 115 (PA1-q-103).
Similar image (at APG-0441-1/2-G) with original print at Pa1-q-103 (Godber album, Vol 110, p 114), with caption "Built by Orenstein & Keppel (Ger). Used by Coal Co. in north. Later in Whangarei, Portland Cement - now preserved at Matakohe".
Inscriptions: Photographer's title on negative - bottom centre - German locomotive at Northern Colliery Co. Waro. Gauge 20 inches
