Full length caricature portrait of John Davies Ormond. He is holding binoculars and volumes on politics and racing are behind him, as well as race-horses Renown and Ideal, and several sheep grazing.

J. D. Ormond was a runholder in Hawkes Bay and an M.P. from 1869. He had a thoroughbred racing stud.
