The papers comprises a holograph diary kept by Warnock while a passenger on the `Lady Jocelyn' in 1878 from Belfast to Auckland; original and photocopy of his ticket; testimonial from Hawkins, Robertson Ferguson and Co, Belfast; Warnocks centennial supplement (1986) and two ledgers and two cash books for Warnock's, 1901-1917

Warnock came to New Zealand in 1878. He was employed by Kirkcaldie and Stains, Wellington, in 1884 and in 1886 established his own store, Warnock, Adkin and Kelly in 1886. In 1910 he moved the shop, by then known as Warnocks, to Wanganui, where it celebrated its centenary in 1986.
