Surveyor Julius von Haast's visual notes on his surroundings during climbs in the Nelson Lakes district. Valleys and mountain ranges with peaks and other features marked. Identifies Wairau [i.e. St Arnaud] Range, Mt Robert, Mount Travers, Mount Mackay, Mount Franklin 'covered with perpetual snow'.
