Description

Contains whakapapa, karakia, and cosmological notes about the separation of Rangi and Papa; also contains narratives about the lives and actions of other deities including Tawhakai, Tangaroa, Ruatepupuke, Maui, Rata, Rautapu and Uenuku; in these accounts there is information about the origins of various beliefs and practices.

Also contains a seven page narrative about Te Ati Awa incursions into the Wairarapa following their migration to the Wellington area [compare with version by Best in qMS-0202] and the capture of Te Uamairangi and Te Kakapi o te rangi, niece of Te Wharepouri, and the subsequesnt peace making at Pito-one (Petone); there are also copies of a petition calling for increased Maori representation in Parliament, and a letter to Maui Pomare with regard to land at Pouakani.
