Prime Minister William Massey (back to camera) pinning a medal on a wounded soldier at an outdoor ceremony at the No. 2 New Zealand General Hospital, in Walton-on-Thames, during World War I. The soldier, wearing a hospital blue uniform, stands at attention. A small group of soldiers, also in hospital blues, stands behind. Other khaki soldiers look on. Photograph taken probably 1918 by Thomas Frederick Scales.
