An essay written by Rewi Roach on his paternal great grandfather, Francis Robert Estoteville Skipwith. Skipwith immigrated to New Zealand aboard the `Prince of Wales in 1842 and married Hinenui Te Po, daughter of the Ngati Raukawa chief, Matenga Te Matia and his wife Paramihia Whawha.
