Steam locomotive "Wf" 501. . This film negative is a copy from a print in Godber Album Vol 109, p 106 (PA1-q-102)
"Wf" Class 501 steam locomotive was built in 1904, purchased by the Public Works Department, and taken over by NZR in 1909 on completion of the North Island Main Trunk Railway. See "Cavalcade of New Zealand locomotives" by A N Palmer & W W Stewart (1965, p 82)
Source of descriptive information - date and photographer identified by library client, previously described as photographed by W W Stewart which is unlikely given his date of birth (1898) and the dates of "Wf" Class 501 (1905-1909).
