View of a boarding house, Waiuta, West Coast, New Zealand. Single storied, unpainted wooden building with a corrugated iron and tin chimneys. Photographed by Joseph Divis some time in the 1930s.

Single miners lived in huts and had meals at the boarding house. Little tramway in left foreground was used to deliver firewood for the range where the meals were cooked. Buildings in the background include the cottage hospital (long dark building, left of centre), the Anglican church, and the three-teacher school at the extreme right.
