"J" 1229, a J class steam locomotive, 4-8-2 type, photographed ca 1940 by A P Godber.
"J" 1229 was built in 1939 (maker's no. 24552/39) by North British Locomotive Co., Glasgow. It went into service in March 1940 and was written off in January 1965. Photographed before being changed to "Jb" class when converted to burn fuel oil.
