- Description
The Tyne, dismasted and on the rocks close to shore, with a crowd of people standing on rocks on the shore watching, and a small boat nearby, several planks tossed in the waves. There are people visible on board the ship. Identifies Sinclair Head and the distant entrance to Port Nicholson. The scene is on Wellington's South coast in the bay immediately to the west of Sinclair Head, close to Red Rocks.

Inscribed in ink on verso: "The time at which the sketch is supposed to be taken is about ten o'clock on Sunday morning July 6th; it faithfully represents the situation of the vessel and the boat in which four hands were endeavouring to land at the moment of the swamping of the boat by a heavy sea".
Dimensions include vertical strip 74 mm wide cut off left hand side and stored with the watercolour. The strip includes Park's inscription with signature, title and date
