Description

Shows various MPs in the second National government lounging round a piano in a bar. They have drinks and some are playing cards. All are dressed as Texan cowboys and Prime Minister, Sid Holland, has a sheriff's badge on his shirt and stands to the left of the piano. The piano is named 'Treasury', the music is called 'The budget' and the pianist is 'the kid from taxes', Jack Watts, who was the Minister of Finance. Behind the piano is Minister of Labour, Bill Sullivan, next is Ronald Algie, Minister of Education and Keith Holyoake holds up a card at the table on the right. Probably refers to the P.A.Y.E tax system. There is a pun on 'Texas' and 'taxes'.

Audie Murphy, American film star played Billy the Kid in the 1950 movie "The kid from Texas".
