Account of life on board the `Oriental' on which Brown emigrated to New Zealand. Contains his condemnation of the idleness of passengers, with suggestions for avoiding it. Includes also the draft of a letter to Captain Liardet and Captain King concerning Brown's alleged insult to Mr Eastfield, 11 March 1842, some shorthand notes by Brown, a passage of lyrical description prose and details of the ship's progress each day.
