Description

Two almost identical red beetles, probably life-size at 13 mm. Elytra and head are red with black spots. The antennae are the same length as the elongated body. `Georgia' is written in pencil at the bottom centre of the page.

Text in pencil on verso (upper) - `From Mr Abbot of Georgia, North America. The elytra [cov]ered with a fine down of white as are the underparts'. (Page trimmed, removing letters on the left).

Text in pencil on verso (lower) - `From Georgia with the former & like it covered with the ...te [?]awn antennae composed of 11 joints [here follows a drawing] & thinly ...hed with small brown hair.' (Missing text on trimmed lefthand side of page).
