Looking over Maclaggan Street, Dunedin, with Rattray Street in the foreground, photographed by William Meluish from Bell Tower in 1862. Shows the two storied Abbeyleix House at upper left, with verandah and steps. On Maclaggan Street are: Excelsior House of Alcorn Brothers, Edward Moeller's Furniture Auction and Sale Rooms, the Abbeyleix House bar, and R Campbell and Company's Auction Rooms. Opposite Excelsior House is the London Cafe Restaurant. In the foreground is Rattray Street and from left are: Thompson's Success Boarding House, Harris Reidlish's El Dorado Boarding House, and Dr Hocken's residence. High Street runs parallel to Maclaggan Street.
