An arrangement of text (prose and verses), and an illustration showing a blindfolded man standing under gallows, and being prepared for hanging. With him are a priest, the hangman Marwood and an attendant.
William Hole, a Bristol bargeowner murdered his wife on 18 August 1874. Hole and his wife had both been drunk, and the man had cut his wife's throat.
The hanging took place at Bristol on 26 April 1875.
