World War 2 soldier Merv L Stringer of 20th New Zealand Battalion, C Squadron, asleep in his Sherman tank, half a mile behind the lines, north of Rimini, Italy, after four days and four nights in action. 75mm shells are stacked on the right. Headphones, still operating, are around his neck. Photograph taken by Jock C Montgomery in 1944.
