Head and shoulders profile portrait of te Rangihaeata, Ngati Toa leader & warrior, wearing a peacock feather. Probably depicted in Nelson between 10 & 14 March 1843

cf almost identical portrait in Peabody Museum, Salem, Mass., (from which title of this work is taken - full title reads "The greatest warrior that New Zealand ever produced.
