- Description
Shows a view from Doubtless Bay, looking into the entrance to Mangonui Harbour. At right is the former site of Rangikapiti Pa, with Captain William Butler's signal mast on top of it. On the left of the entrance is Rangitoto headland (site of Rangitoto Pa), and further left is the coast towards Hihi Bay. In the harbour entrance are about a dozen ships, probably associated with the whaling station at Mangonui.
Drawn on the bottom half of the sheet of paper, formerly folded and stitched together as a sketchbook.
