- Description
Diary continues on directly from MSX-2541 with Malone discussing the sinking of the `Emden'. Describes very hot weather conditions and the effect on his soldiers. Gives a lecture to the men on military tactics. Comments on the suitability of some soldiers to their appointed ranks, his dislike of some onboard sporting competitions and crossing the Equator. Arrive Colombo 15 Nov 1914 and Malone provides a detailed account of vessels in harbour. Two day stop-over. Continues to detail shipboard life until the `Arawa' arrives in Aden on 25 Nov 1914, then onto Suez and Alexandria. Ends 6 Dec 1914 as Regiment prepares to leave Alexandria for Zeitoun.
