Steam locomotive 27, N class, type 2-6-2, built by Baldwin, and converted in 1895 to a Vauclain compound, with three men. Location unknown. Photograph taken by Albert Percy Godber between 1895 and 1927.

This engine entered service on 30 October 1885, was converted to a Vauclain compound in 1895, and was written off in November 1927. (Information from the 'Register of New Zealand Steam Locomotives 1863-1971' by W G Lloyd, 1974, page 42, and 'Cavalcade of New Zealand locomotives' by A N Palmer & W W Stewart)
