Arrival of President Raymond Poincare of France (right of centre) in Le Quesnoy. Photograph taken 10 November 1918 by Henry Armytage Sanders.
Scource of descriptive information - Information in the Historial notes field supplied by Franck Bruyere, a citizen of Le Quesnoy. Information recieved in May and June 2008.
The President was accompanied by the Prefect of the Department of the North, and the local member of Parliament. The visit marked France symbolically taking posession of the town liberated by foreign troops. It was also the first time that a President of France had visited Le Quesnoy. This visit was to be followed on 18 November by a visit of King George V of Britain.
