Believed to be a view from Hobson Bay until re-identified as Judges Bay in 2005. Compare Hoyte's view 'Mount Rangitoto from St George's Bay, Auckland, (reference number A-183-006) for a similar view, although the latter includes St Stephens' Chapel in Judge's Bay. Both views are taken from the area of the modern Parnell Rose Gardens
