Men of the Opotiki Expedition, Patea Rangers and Wanganui Yeomanry Cavalry at Opotiki in front of the church later known as Saint Stephen the Martyr. A Masonic Hotel balcony is on the left. The small building is the powder store. Arthur Parkinson's head is in front of the right hand end of the store. Alfred Parkinson stands in front of the centre of the church tower. Photograph taken by William Beattie and Company in 1868.
