View looking towards parliament buildings showing crowds and officials around the war memorial in the grounds of Parliament House on ANZAC Day, 1939 (old Government House to upper left). Wreaths have been laid around the base of the monument, and a brass band is playing close to the cenotaph. Photograph taken on 25 Apr 1939, by an unidentified photographer for the Evening Post.
Source of descriptive information - Original Evening Post caption reads: "Huge crowds took part yesterday in the ANZAC Day Parades ... a large crowd attended the service at the War Memorial, at which wreathes were deposited by the Hon Peter Fraser, on behalf of the Government, Commodore H E Horan, and many others."
