Shows hotel buildings, wharf and sailing vessels at Turanganui, the original site of Gisborne, before the township of Gisborne was surveyed and named in 1870. `The array of buildings which Read has put up is quite formidable and gives the place a respectable appearance'. A single cabbage tree stands on the right and the river winds through the centre of the view.
