Small flat mother-of-pearl incised shapes, of Chinese origin, some fish-shaped, some rectangular with patterns incised on them, part of a Chinese game.
These gambling counters may date from as early as the late eighteenth century, according to several websites. They were made in China for export to England, for use to gamble at cards.
