Contains holograph copies, made by McDonnell, of various Maori language items including the New Zealand Constitution Act 1852, Nga kupu mihi atu ki a Kingi Te Rata, Te Whare Paremete by Apirana Ngata, A defence of the Maori people, and a history of Haiti

There are also orignial letters to McDonnell and others about land issues, book buying and selling and other topics; there is a whakapapa of Ngati Ira, some waiata and a Maori calendar
