Poster shows a head and shoulders portrait, three quarter face, of a young Maori woman in traditional costume, with a necklace of [hibiscus?] flowers. In the left background are a carved Maori figure on a pole, and a pataka on a pole.

Image is based on a Tourist Department photograph, the negative for which is held at 1/1-021398-F. Date of the poster is verified by a photograph of Eric de Lacey and Gerald Phillips at the National Publicity Studios in 1957. The studios hung recently completed posters on their walls. Archives New Zealand reference AAQT 6401/26 A51164. This photograph is reproduced inside the front cover of "Selling the dream; the art of early New Zealand tourism" eds Peter Alsop, Gary Stewart, Dave Bamford (2012). An original sketch taken from the photograph was signed by Marcus King (See reproduction of the sketch in "Marcus King", by Peter Alsop and Warren Feeney, 2015, page 126).
