Shows monument to Tuaiwa Ngatipare on hill overlooking a bay, Patikirau, Raglan Harbour. There is a smaller grave, surrounded by a picket fence, in front of the monument. Beyond the bay there is grassland, with native bush in the distance. Taken 1 August 1910 by 'G Bros', probably Gilmour Brothers of Raglan.
The monument to the memory of Maori chieftainess Tuaiwa Ngatipare was unveiled in March 1910. Strom winds toppled the monument in May 1914 (See Waikato Argus 10 March 1910 and 9 May 1914).
