Note on back of file print reads "Rough dirt road through the King Country 1912. Taken on the first motor trip from Wngt - Auck. via Taihape, Taumarunui, [Ohira?] and Te Kuiti"
The leader of the journey was Wellington journalist Arthur Chorlton, whose book 'Motoring Pioneers through the King Country' described the expedition. The driver was Harold Richards.
