Cartoon shows members of the political Labour Party, egged on by their leader Michale Joseph Savage, busy with picks, mallets and drills, destroying the "perfectly good road of private enterprise". Labels on these politicans or their tools, are: "State monopoly of iron and steel" (Daniel Giles Sullivan), "Transport commander" (Bob Semple), "Housing" (John A Lee), and Dairy Commander (William Lee Martin).
