Dr Fitchett describes the history of the Fitchett family of the `Ohiro District', Brooklyn, Wellington, who are descended from William Fitchett (b 1730) of Bretby, Derbyshire, England. John Fitchett, from Leamington, arrived in Wellington on the `London' in May 1842, with his wife Louisa (Buddle), settling in Brooklyn and developing Ohiro Farm. Dr Fitchett describes various members and branches of the family, their lives, descendants etc, documenting events from family, official and local government sources.
Includes genealogical tables.
Dr Fitchett has spent much of his life in Brooklyn, Wellington. He attended Brooklyn School and Wellington College. He trained as a doctor at Otago Medical School and returned to general practice in the suburb from 1955 to 1990 when he retired. He continues to reside in Brooklyn.
