Description

Certificate shows a group portrait of Druids in ancient Britain, the central figure holding a scythe and wreath, and two members playing harps, in front of monolithic stones, possibly part of the Stonehenge complex. Borders are in oak leaves, and the lower half is an arrangement of text with signature and date.

The design of this certificate was used in New Zealand in the 1910s, and examples from Tasmania have also been sighted.

The two named men lived in Palmerston North. Charles Spurgeon Rush was a journalist, the manager of the Manawatu Daily. Walter Henry Ward was an upholsterer.
