Attribution based on stylistic similarities, despite different media, & Lady Jack's belief that the work was painted by her grandmother, Constance Anne, wife of Alfred de Bathe Brandon. However it remains possible that Constance Brandon is the artist of this work, since work by Connell in the Rex Nan Kivell collection is copied from the work of William Swainson, and it is possible that Connell's views in the Hobson Album were also copies
