Description

Drawn on a published cadastral map, the annotations show survey measurements relating to reclaimed land between Lambton Quay and Wellington's Lambton Harbour, namely sections bounded by Lambton Quay, Waring Taylor Street, Customhouse Quay and Grey Street. On the lithograph, sections are numbered, and the following dwellings or properties on Lambton Quay are named: Jacob Joseph, Bond Store, J E Watkin, T Waldin, T Nidd, I Hudson, James Steam furniture manufacturers, South Sea Hotel, H R Kene, P Armstrong, F Webb, Laing, Fredman, Restaurant, Building House, Rowlands, Lloyd, Burne, Baraud, Poulson, Hart & Buckley, Shaw, Sancto, Marriott, Willcox, Hughes, Levy, Moss, Selig, Aston, Grant to Foresters. Dwellings named on Grey Street and Custom House Quay include: Oddfellows Hall, Dransfield, Gibson, Levin & Co, Panama Steam Co, Telegraph Office, Custom House Post Office, Pier Hotel, Bank of Australasia. Also shown are the entrance to the wharf, part of Lambton Harbour, Queen's Harbour, and proposed reclamation for the approach to the wharf.
