Description

Shows four soldiers, two of them on a horse, moving left across the foreground, with the Catholic church at the left, and other buildings (the priest's house and school) to the right.

From the accompanying sheet:

1. The sketches are attributed to Charles Eastwood, a member of the Forest Rangers.

2. It is thought that the captions may have been added at a later date.

From the accompanying sheet:

1. In February 1864, General Cameron and his British forces including the Forest Rangers, fought local Maori at Rangiaohia.

2. The priest's house was burned down in 1865.
