Looking down into a well-fortified pa, with earth ramparts constructed inside the palisade, futher ramparts inside the pa and whare showing.
Identified as Maungatautari Pa by military historian Chris Pugsley, February 1998. The outlines of the upper pa are still visible and this view looks down towards the river.
