Part 1 of a 3 part panorama showing Wellington city buildings photographed in 1935 by Sydney Charles Smith. Looks over Lambton Quay (foreground), with Government buildings (far left) and the Magistrates Court (right, with scaffolding). Featherston Street runs horizontally along the centre with the Railway Offices (three storied building with ornamentation, right of centre). The harbour is in the background. The pre-fabricated buildings surrounding the Government Buildings are on the site later known at Whitmore Street. The Scoullar Company furniture warehouse is in the centre foreground.
