Lambton Quay, Wellington. Looks north, along the west side of the street. Business premises from left: Seed merchants H C Gibbons and Co, New Zealand Drug Company, The Wellington Hardware Company, (Central?) Hotel, Allen's, The City Cafe, and G B Clark. The tower of St Andrew's-on-the-Terrace is visible on the right. Photograph taken circa 1880s by the Tyree Studio.

New Zealand Drug Company premises were built for Jacob Joseph and completed in 1878. In 1883 the building was taken over by Harcourts. Later owners were Wairarapa Farmers; Kempthorne Prosser; Coulls, Somerville & Wilkie. Shopping centre Lambton Square was on the site from the 1980s.
