Description

Shows an heraldic design with clam shells in an outer rectangular frame, containing an oval frame containing one large bull's head with four linked rings at its neck above a helmet on top of a shield featuring three bulls' heads run through with swords. Below, Alexander Turnbull's name is flanked by small panels showing wreathed angels.

Article by Penny Griffith in "Turnbull Library record", October 1979, page 107, suggests that this may be a bookplate designed in 1896. However, a small "GJ" monogram at centre left shows the date 1912 beneath it.
