Description

The essay details Stephen Corlett's Manx origins, work in Cheshire, emigration to Canterbury, the voyage out in the `Sir George Seymour' in 1850, early years in Canterbury Province, land purchases, burial of Stephen and wife Jane and their reinterment. Also the lives of the first generation to settle and raise families in New Zealand; and the Corlett brothers purchase of Greta Peaks, and loss of their land. Also includes an addendum added by Frances Stewart in 2006.
